I have a proven design for a 17" section width housing which is ideal for completed housings that have up a 53" housing end to housing end measurement. This design incorporates internal bulkheads and a 3/8" thick face plate for added strength. This housing can be built out of mild steel or Moly. We recommend moly for all but the mildest applications.  Although we recommend these housings be built on a fixture jig, ( we offer plans )  they can be built by a seasoned and experienced fabricator if they have access to a good flat steel table surface.
